Erdtmann, Bernardette Kreutz;Erdmann, Alacoque Lorenzini;
Revista Brasileira de Enfermagem , 2003, DOI: 10.1590/S0034-71672003000500011
Abstract: this study stems from an assistanee and investigation practice on how to offer nursing care based on sensitive reason, compatible with the client's culture, as well as with his/her family links. we have tried to apprehend the meaning they confer to nurses, to the health-disease proeess, and to home nursing. the sun rising model was used in order to report the elements emerging over the nursing care periods. later, a sun rising model in post-modern times was drawn, whose culture expressed through beliefs, practices, and habits favored a patient-nurse interaction. finally, the presentation of the elements emerging form this practice comprises both transcultural theory and sensitive reason at the same time.

Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da USP , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S0080-62342012000100006
Abstract: the objective of this study was to understand the meaning of being a nurse and providing care in the neonatal intensive care unit (nicu) of a general hospital in southern brazil, developing an explanatory theoretical model. the grounded theory and the complexity paradigm were used to develop the theoretical model: caring for newborns in the nicu: dealing with the fragility of living/surviving in the light of complexity. data was collected from 11 subjects through an open interview, and organized using nvivo software. a central category was identified: dealing with the fragility of living/surviving: a care that is highly complex, sensitive, unique and shared. care in the nicu, valuing the everyday interrelationships, aims to address all domains of complex health care, integrating and applying scientific knowledge. it is necessary to practice the strengths already inherent to nursing professionals, in addition to pursuing new strengths, an invitation to new models of care for newborns, their family, and the members of this complex system.
